Félix Vallotton (December 28, 1865 – December 29, 1925)

Who remembers Vallotton? Constantly protean, Vallotton grew from an academically inclined, masterful painter to a revolutionary one. And, for me, there is always a sense of emotion and experimentation in his works (even those later works that critics, I think rather mistakenly, derided as lacking in heart). I have never understood why he remains so unknown or unloved, even in artistic circles–Who is Vallotton?
